The United States has approved sale of defense equipment worth 5 billion dollars for South Korea.

The package approved by state department includes twenty five F-35 fighter jets and requires approval by Congress.

In a statement US state department said the sale will provide South Korea credible defense capability to deter aggression and will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
